The one where I am bored but also includes Tomato Saar Recipe Link

Yes, I am bored. Of what? Of:

- blogging regular every-day recipes like rasam and sambar and paratha and paneer butter masala.
- looking at the same old template that this site has been stuck with since the middle of last year (or has it been longer?).
- looking at my Reader chock full of blogs I am yet to read simply because I am too tired or busy to comment and I hate leaving a site without commenting. I have to say something (only genuine stuff though, don't worry).

What does this mean?

I think the content of this site needs some serious overhaul. I am going to look for those gems out there. In other blogs and sites, in cookbooks, in relatives' kitchens, everywhere! Recipes that are not run-of-the-mill. Recipes that are quick or are worth the extra time you may need to spend on them.

I only have two more recipes in my draft, one is the tomato saar that's coming up and the next one is Methi Paratha so don't tease me when I post that because a Methi Paratha recipe is anything but radical.

But.

This is like a resolution I have for the blog so let's see how it goes. For now, I am going to leave the template alone. God knows how obsessed I can get when I start editing it.

Now onto the Tomato Saar Recipe. This is directly lifted from Arch's blog, The Yum Factor. Tried it based on SJ's reco and loved it. Thanks Arch!

  1. Wat I feel is blogging every day recipes doesnt matter, u surely will have one variation shown in ur version which will be helpful for others.

I like the easy versions like marie biscuit dessets, gothuma roti, choco cookies, masala kulipaniyaram etc......and thats the reason why many recipes in my blog are from here.Infact many of my blogger/non-blogger friends even asked me Who is this Nags, so many of ur recipes are from hers?! :)

Yeah, these days hvent seen any comments from you......?! For the template and look change, u can do it lil by lil so that u dont feel the strain which is what I m doing right now :)

  8. i really like this blog.
i've just moved into a place with a usable kitchen and am slowly learning my way around it.
when its too late to make long distance calls to much amused parents/grandparents/other indulgent family blogs like yours are a lifesaver.
(especially when hunting for a simple rasam recipe- because on some days only rasam will do)
    :)

  9. I know exactly what you mean Nags, especially about that last bullet. I have completely stopped looking at my reader. I really want to get back into it though, as I enjoy browsing other blogs.

I try and post a lot of non-run of the mill recipes, but when I look through my stats, the traditional ones are the most popular, especially over time. So that means many people out there are searching for regular every day recipes. So my resolution is to post more of those :)

  17. Hey! Hi! Nice page you have here, including the photographs. Looks delicious!

I came across your blog when I was looking at my earlier blogpage (caniwrite.blogspot). I saw you commented on a couple of my posts then, but I must have missed yours, since I had shifted over to wordpress. Just thought I should return the effort you made. Am quite late, I know, but here's a start!:)

  22. I am going through a different set of problems that doesn't get me blogging at all. The template factor is common - I don't know what I should do about the header but I have got tired of looking at my present one:). Since my son will not eat anything other than rasam, sambar and dal I really am not motivated to try any other gravy - which will only mean I cook two things instead of one!!

Umm... the rant became a long one I guess but it did lighten me up a bit:). My MIL makes a similar saar and it tastes great with rice. Maybe my son will like this! Your whole setting looks wonderfully cheery!

  23. Nags

I love your recipes, the step-by-step and everyday. Because your "everyday recipe" is NOT my "everyday recipe", it is a variation for me and seeing them gives me an idea of what other "home food" is out there.

Take this Tomato Saar, never had it.

But I'm not sure how to solve them. And my blog also needs a make-over very badly.
You're lucky you have only 2 posts in your drafts. I have so many!!!
