Marie Biscuit Chocolate Logs
This is an extremely easy-to-make, yet yummy chocolatey dessert for a kid's party or even to make just for fun. I have always been a huge fan of making anything with Marie Biscuits. When a colleague friend of mine told me about a recipe she uses, I decided to try it out. It was simple and really really yummy!
What I Used:
Marie Biscuits - 12
Cocoa Powder - 1 tbsp
Unsalted Butter - 4 tbsp
Powdered Sugar - 4 tbsp
Instant coffee powder - 1/2 tsp
Warm Milk - 1/4 cup
How I Made It:
1. Mix the coffee powder in the milk. Dip each biscuit into this mixture and stack neatly one on top of the other.
2. Cream butter and sugar together and blend in the cocoa powder. Lay this mixture evenly on all four sides of the stacked biscuits.
3. Refigerate for 2 hours, remove and cut into slices.
* These are called logs cuz my friend told me how you can make a log-like design on it by running a fork over the chocolate layer once its cooled. I didn't try that cuz I didn't have enough biscuits to make a log-sized stack. Do try it if you can, though!
This goes over to Vanamala's Kid's Food Event, since most of you said this is something you would really love to try for your kids. Even I loved it as a kid.

ReplyDeleteHow adorable! Looks like a layer cake without all of the work. Brilliant, Nags!
ReplyDeletei will defeniely try with enough biscuits for a log!! :) you can also make biscuit rolls...alternating, crushed marie biscuits mixed with cocoa in condensed milk and crushed biscuits mixed with plain condensed milk!!
ReplyDeleteThank you Nags
ReplyDeleteWill try it for my little son.
can u just tell me how much maries biscuit to be kept one above one as row and coloumn to get like yours.
ReplyDeleteHello anon,
ReplyDeleteJust stack up 10-12 marie one on top of the other and coat it with the chocolate layer. Then, simply cut it with a sharp knife after chilling. You will be amazed at how pretty the dessert is that you just created :)
Let me know if you make it!
I make this in tha same way but I apply thin layer of cream in the middle of each biscuts layer,
ReplyDeleteLOVE THE PICS NAGS
Love the recipe Nags. Its super simple and super cool. Its like the tiramisu minus the mascarpone. Love it!
ReplyDeleteThat looks so lovely Nags..Not much of cooking involved..Definitely will try it..
ReplyDeleteooo lovely chocolate log:) nice blogger template:)
ReplyDeleteLooks so delicious Nags...I've tried them out (I've made them a bit brittle by freezing) and they are really really yummy..
ReplyDeleteThis is a really "easy to cook" recipe to say. The pic looks great.
ReplyDeleteThis looks yum! Can't wait to try it out...
ReplyDeleteyou can also use honey instead of powdered sugar and mix equal portions of coco powder-butter-honey for stronger chokolate taste. can also ad grinded wall-nut for the extra taste. Hare Krishna!
ReplyDeletei believe the marie biscuits could be substituted with digestive biscuits as well..
ReplyDeleteRina - Absolutely! Do let me know how that turned out if you decide to try it :)
ReplyDeleteHello Nags - I actually made the chocolate logs with digestive biscuits yesterday..infact i improvised the recipe a little by using whatever ingredients that were available at my kitchen at that moment..instead of chocolate powder i used cooking chocolate...with milk i combined thick cream as well. For the zest..i added a lil vanilla essense while making the chocolate sauce.
ReplyDeleteIt turned out pretty well..though when i tried cutting into slices it crumbled abit....maybe coz digestive biscuits are a bit tender than marie biscuits..
anyway check out the output:

My mom used to always make this when I was a kid and best of all, she would let me help her and it was so much fun!!
ReplyDeleteCan I use chocolate frosting instead of the cocoa / sugar / butter? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely! I think it will taste even better :) Try it and do drop me a line here.
ReplyDeletelooks yummy, i want to try this and i'm sure this will be delicious.
ReplyDeleteHi... I finally did try this recipe with the chocoalte frosting.. It was really nice (though it dint look as neat as yours)... Thanks! :)

ReplyDeleteThanks anon. I love Marie Biscuit desserts too :) Hope you try and like it :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Afnan, glad you liked it!
ReplyDeletehi...this recipe i have been making from so long...but i wanna give u a suggestion...at the time of serving cut it diagonally...the way we cut spring rolls...it will really give a nice presentation...and do apply cream in between every biscuit you stack....it will be creamier and more tastier...
ReplyDeleteThose are great suggestions Payal! Thanks a ton :)
ReplyDeleteHi.. Neat recipe there! I would like to know if I can use Nesquik Chocolate powder instead of cocoa powder... will the result be the same?
ReplyDeleteIs Nesquik chocolate powder unsweetened? Then you can. Otherwise, regulate the amount of sugar you add. The taste will certainly be different (but still nice I'd guess) if you use sweetened cocoa powder as opposed to unsweetened :)
ReplyDeleteIts sweetened Chocolate powder :s will give it a shot.. hopefully its close! thanks a bunch! :)
ReplyDeletethis is my first come to your blog, and i read agood information that you put in here..good job i like it
ReplyDeletekeep going thanks.
I made this as a surprise for dad bcoz it was momdads anniv n mom was away!! it was so easy to make...easier bcoz i replaced the cocoa+pwdered sugar with drinking chocolate hehe...also, had only "nutralite" which is salted so i had my apprehensions but except me noone realized so Score!! :D
ReplyDeleteThanks so much nags...my athai n cousins wr all home that day n though they all got like a tiny bit they loved it and i popularized your blog and the recipe "n" number of times!! i also gave some to my maid for her kids and they loved it!! the next day i gave her the recipe and some drinking chocolate and she made it herself and they again loved it!! :) :)
That's so sweet! Yes, this is a very easy and super simple chocolate dessert that needs no baking. Glad everyone liked it :)

ReplyDelete~ Siri..:))
hi,
ReplyDeletei plan to try this out today.
But i didnt get the 'lay the mixture on all four sides evenly' bit.
How does one do that. with a spoon?
Please explain a little more.
hey there, just spread the mixture evenly on all sides of the biscuit stack.
ReplyDeletewill try for sure..this is the only recipe which i can see!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteHey Nags,
ReplyDeleteI made this today, and it turned out real yumm. Here's a pic: http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=6950029&l=97018b502b&id=694946815
I did the fork-carving too; but by the time I got a nice pic, the carvings faded off :D
But I ended up having a lot of left over cocoa-butter-sugar mix and coffee!! :( So well, I put them all together, added some fresh bread, some cashew-almond bits and ended up with this Coffee Choc Bread Yumthing: http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=6949626&l=4f9266a868&id=694946815
Now i must find takers for Marie Biscuit Chocolate Logs and Coffee Choc Bread Yumthing :D
your pics look super cute! i love it!! the chocolate is a much darker colour than mine :)
ReplyDeleteThanks! :)
ReplyDeleteIt was a bit too sweet for my taste, but well, anything chocolatey goes! ;)
Well, i used a bit more of the cocoa powder than you did...I'm a chocolate freak :D It could also be the difference in brands. I used something called Eagle, though I wanted Cadbury's or Nestle. Wasnt available at that time.
I was searching for a really quick snack and came across this and went straight ahead and made it - all in under 1/2hr! I couldn't believe how easy it was!! The layers look awesome and so tempting... now am waiting for 2 hrs to quick pass by! I am hoping my 3yr old will love this and I can get brownie points for that :D Thanks so much :)
ReplyDeleteso glad you tried the marie biscuit chocolate logs! they are a very quick and super easy dessert to put together with just biscuits and chocolate and few other ingredients!
ReplyDeleteHey nags, HAve u deleted the pictures? cant see any, i was planning on making this tonite.. :((
