Eggless No Bake Biscuit Brownie Recipe, Step by Step

December 5, 2016 141 Comments

Eggless no bake biscuit brownie – a simple dessert recipe with Marie biscuits and condensed milk with added chocolate and chopped nuts. The mixture is pressed into trays and left to set in the refrigerator to get these brownie squares without any baking.

eggless no bake biscuit brownie recipe

I love biscuit based sweets and desserts. That must be one reason why I love Twix bars! I love biscuit puddings and make the Marie biscuit chocolate logs pretty often to satisfy my biscuit dessert cravings.

This biscuit brownie is yet another wonderful addition to my list of quick and easy dessert recipes with biscuits as a base. It’s eggless and no-bake which definitely adds to the charm.

eggless no bake biscuit brownie recipe

I often get asked for quick and easy bars and desserts that can be made without an oven or in the microwave. Since I enjoy baking, I hardly ever go actively looking for such recipes but when my cousin posted this in her blog couple of weeks back, I knew I had to try it as soon as possible.

I got Marie Biscuits during my next trip to the supermarket and made it that same weekend.

This recipe is perfect for you if you are looking for:

  • A Marie biscuit dessert with condensed milk
  • A brownie recipe without an oven
  • An eggless brownie recipe with biscuits
  • Recipes for chocolate-lovers

I don’t think I need to give you more reasons, do I?

Eggless no bake biscuit brownies using crushed biscuits, condensed milk, and chopped nuts. Easy dessert to make even for beginner cooks and bakers.
Author: nags
Recipe type: Dessert
Cuisine: International
Serves: 12 squares
Ingredients
  • 20-25 Marie biscuits
  • 3 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ¼ cup roasted nut of choice (I used hazelnuts)
  • 2 tsp sugar
  • ½ of a 400gm tin condensed milk (I used low fat Milkmaid)
Instructions
  1. Break the biscuits into fours and powder coarsely
  2. Add the cocoa powder to this and mix well.
  3. Add the sugar to this mixture and mix again.
  4. Dry-roast any nut of choice and let it cool.
  5. Chop the nuts coarsely and add to the above and mix well.
  6. Add half a tin of condensed milk to this mixture.
  7. Mix well with a sturdy spoon.
  8. Line a plate, pie dish, or baking tray with butter paper (or just grease with some butter) and transfer the mixture to it.
  9. Press firmly with wet fingertips until the mixture is firm
  10. Cut into squares and serve.
  11. Store any remaining brownies in the refrigerator in an airtight container and consume within 3 days

Step by Step Instructions for Eggless No Bake Biscuit Brownie Recipe:

eggless no bake biscuit brownie recipe

1. Break the biscuits into fours and powder coarsely. I left small bits of biscuits in this mixture to give the brownies some extra texture.

2. Add the cocoa powder to this and mix well.

3. Add the sugar next and mix again. If you prefer mildly sweet brownies, you can omit this step but I found the sweetness level perfect with 2 tsp sugar.

4. Dry-roast any nut of choice and let it cool. I had some roasted hazelnuts handy so used that. Roughly 1/4 cup should do.

5. Chop it up coarsely and add to the mixture. Mix well.

6. Add half a tin of condensed milk to this mixture. Feel free to lick up the remaining condensed milk sticking to the tin!

7. Mix well with a sturdy spoon. I would advice against using a whisk at this stage because the mixture will be very thick and would refuse to cooperate with a weak whisk or spatula. Use a steel or wooden spoon or ladle. Show it who is boss! Mix well until all the powdery bits are combined with the wet ingredients.

8. Line a plate, pie dish, or baking tray with butter paper (or just grease with some butter) and transfer the mixture to it. Press firmly with wet fingertips until the mixture is uniformly spread.

The colour of the biscuit brownies in the various pictures all look different because of the difference in lighting. Bear with me. Whatever colour the brownies are, they will be delicious, I promise.

9. Refrigerate for minimum 4 hours or overnight if possible. This picture was taken after 2 hours of refrigeration because I was impatient. If you are like me, you will get more fudge-y brownies that won’t hold its shape when you cut it.

If you refrigerate longer, then they can be cut into perfect squares and taste delicious. This was taken the day after I made them.

not sure i get your question. are you asking about the biscuits or the biscuits brownies? as in, your final product?

immediately after making, it will be sticky and fudgy but after refrigerating overnight, it will turn harder and you can easily cut into squares. it will not be crisp but softer like brownies

ok, your wait is over 🙂 I tried them yesterday. While going home I shopped for Marie biscuit and milkmaid 🙂

I reduced your recipe by half as was not sure about the final outcome 😉

It turned out very easy and simple recipe and I loved it. I was licking mixing bowl to make sure nothing is left in the bowl.

I took them to office today and every one just loved it 🙂

only one question, my biscuits were in proper shape but were not too solid or crisp, are they suppose to be like this. In last image I see them solid biscuits, not soft one's. I was very conscious while adding milk maid and added very little quantity, actually I had read all the comments to make sure I am doing right… learning from other's mistake 🙂

      waiting to hear from you.

And the other is that when we refrigerate the brownies… dont they harden ??
And the third is that my birthday is coming up..
and i want to make these as a sweet snack.. so if almost 20 people are coming then what measurements do i take ??

hey abhinaya, you can definitely use cashew nuts instead. dry roast them lightly before chopping up and adding to the biscuit brownies. when you refrigerate the brownies, they DO harden and you can cut into pieces as you can see in the pictures. but make sure you leave them overnight or atleast for 6-7 hours to harden perfectly.

the quantity above gave me about 12 pieces. so you can double or triple the ingredients above to serve 20 people.

    Hi Lakshmi,
Thanks a lot for your great recipe! I don't know what went wrong with my brownies as they are hard and not moist at all after refrigerated for 4 hours. I put in 20-25 pcs of digestive biscuits (about 400g). The brownies turned out incredibly sweet. Is it because I used sweetened condensed milk? I couldn't feel the chopped almonds texture inside the brownies too 🙁

Hope you can give me some advise on this. Thanks!

I used Milk and Malt biscuits instead of Marie, so skipped the sugar, used up the walnuts I had without roasting and almost used 80% of my condensed milk tin. since it was quite hard, i flattened it and wrapped it in cling film and then refrigerated it. it was hard in 3 hours and was really good… a recipe for keeps!!!! 🙂

changing cocoa powder to milo will work but it won't taste as good (that's my opinion anyway). Changing condensed milk to cream won't give you pieces like this, it may still be gooey and you may not be able to shape it.

Thanks for trying the marie biscuit brownies. Actually, these won't retain their shape if you leave it out for too long since there's no setting agent in it. I would advice you take them out just before serving. As for coming out in one single piece, try using butter paper next time, because the brownies are quite delicate (due to lack of setting agent, again)

it was probably too moist. try scaling down the condensed milk next time.

What I like about this recipe is that it is a no cook / no bake recipe. I used roasted peanuts as my children love peanuts. Thanks for this really easy and delicious recipe.

It's probably because it's too moist. Try adding a little less condensed milk.

Plain sugar works well. It sets because of the biscuits and condensed milk. Just chill overnight and you will be fine 🙂 Good luck and let me know if you try the no-bake chocolate biscuit brownies

A lovely website I just discovered. Liked all the posts and they are very well written.. Infact very descriptive because of the pictures taken step by step … In this recipe I wanted to know if you have to use icing/powdered sugar or just the plain sugar. How does it set when you dont cook it at al… I liked the recipe very much and would like to try it soon. Thanks

This is such a Godsend! I've been meaning to make desserts but with a toddler around just didn't have time to manage an oven and keeping him away at the same time – so stumbling upon your site is perfect! And I've seen a few others I'd like to take a stab at as well. Thanks so much! 🙂

Hi thanks so much for the recipe! i made this for my brother and sis-in-law and they loved it! However, I had a small problem because even after a day in the fridge, the brownies were very soft and fudgey… I didn't add any nuts (allergy issues) but increased the number of biscuits. Also, I have a sneaking suspicion that the Sri Lankan marie biscuit is smaller than the Singaporean one. Any idea how much 25 marie biscuits weigh over there?

I didn't measure the powdered biscuits but in this recipe, you can just play it by ear and use approximate measurements, it will still come out just fine 🙂 Try with 1 cup, for example

Hi, it looks delicious. Can you tell me how much (in cup measures) the powdered biscuits yield? I am keen to try this out some time this week.

And is there a substitute to the butter paper that I can use, say, aluminium foil or cling wrap?

In India, you can use malai, instead of condensed milk for binding all the dry ingredients together.

YOu are a genius to come up with such a simple luscious recipe, went through the comments here and I have a doubt – we get orange marie biscuits here in India, would that add flavour or detract from choco heaven?
I plan to try this no fuss recipe tonight – so that I can resist from peeping into the fridge and let it chill well 🙂
