Easy Tomato Pasta Recipe-Pasta Recipes for Kids

November 23, 2015 30 Comments

I know I have been away for way too long. I do have a reason (aka excuse), of course. Err.. Work! Anyway, I am back with yet another dish which I have been wanting to make for a long time. Pasta!! I think this can pass off as one of the easiest things I made and came out great though it was a first attempt.

Pasta is an easy and filling snack or meal that’s especially kid-friendly since you can make it interesting by adding vegetables and cheese per your preference. Also, you can make the pasta sauce as spicy or flavourful as you prefer. You can also check out this vegetarian pad thai recipe, vegetarian lasagne with mushrooms, or this super simple basil pesto pasta for a quick weeknight dinner that your kids would love too. EASY TOMATO PASTA RECIPE FOR KIDS

Ingredients:
Pasta (boiled with little salt) – 1 cup
Tomatoes – 2 medium
Onions – 1, finely diced
Crushed garlic – 6 cloves
Crushed red chillies – 3
Pepper powder – 1 tsp
Capsicum – half
Oil – 1 tbsp

How to Make Simple Tomato Pasta:

1. Saute onions and garlic in oil till golden brown.

2. Add pepper and crushed chillies and fry for a min.

3. Make a puree out of the tomatoes and add to the above mixture, along with the capsicum. Boil for 3 mins.

4. Add the boiled pasta and keep on fire for another 2-3 mins. Add salt to taste.

It was slightly bland, but it was great for dinner. If you have any suggestions in making pasta dishes more flavourful, do let me know. Adding cheese would be a last option, since its not too healthy (though I love cheese!).

Looks good N… For increasing the flavor, you could try making it more "saucy".. Adding cream to the sauce, or sprinkling cheese will definitely do the trick 😀 but those two options come with the extra lbs. 🙂

The pasta looks great in itself….if you want some more flavour, you could increase the garlic and put it in finely minced.
I also put in a dash of cumin powder and of course lots of herbs – dried or fresh.

For increasing the sauce without piling on the calories, I use 1/4 cup of milk added to the sauce and 2 tbsp of cream.

Thanks for stopping by my blog 🙂

Pasta looks really delish Nags! Others have added my tips for more flavor — salt in the water and if you’re using garlic, don’t be afraid to double the amount. Also with garlic, the finer you chop it the stronger it is — so minced is far stronger than sliced and halved etc.

All the same yours looks great 🙂

Looks great! i usually cook my pasta al dente with some salt and olive oil drizzle, and then use a herb n’ tomato sauce or alfredo etc. i am fan of basil, oregano and rosemary in my pastas. Basil and tomato really go well together.

    that looks delicious.

good pasta derives its flavour from the herbs and spices – not cheese (which is an american addition)

pastas were the only dishes i cooked until a year back. so here’s what i have learnt to make pastas more flavourful:

avoid washing the pasta with water after its cooked al dente . the best way to merge your pasta and sauce is to throw in the pasta into the sauce almost immediately after the sauce if ready. the starch on the pasta should make the sauce stick onto it – one usually doen’t simmer the pasta with the sauce.

the way you saute your garlic and chillies makes a loooooooot of difference. the garlic should lend its flavour to the oil when sauted – ditto chilly. i used to keep a stock of garlic oil and chilly oil once upon a time.

add herbs – fresh coriander as well as parsely are widely available in vegetable markets. dried herbs like thyme, rosemary, orgenao and basil are pretty much common in super markets. in fact greens like spinach, radish leaves and so on also add a rich flavour.

Looks yummy Nags, anything Pasta I’m always up for it:)

One tip, add more salt when you boil the pasta, really helps cut back on the blandness. This is the only time you get to actually flavour (salt) the pasta itself, no amount you add later helps 🙂

    Nags!

This looks yummy! Hmm … you could puree some basil with the tomatoes, maybe even some walnuts? Or even add a couple more roma or vine tomatoes for more juice?

Hey, you should submit this for presto pasta nights!
