I thought I should occasionally include reviews of new food products that I try. Sometimes, sharing a one-liner on Facebook or Twitter just doesn’t do it for me.
So, the Indianized version of pasta – Maggi’s Pazzta Masala Penne. I got this from Hypercity in the Inorbit Mall in Hyderabad. I grabbed one pack each of the Cheese Macaroni (which I am yet to try!) and the Masala Penne.
The verdict:
The package says “cook for 5 mins”. This was obviously not enough. I mean, how many of us really cook the Maggi Noodles for just 2 mins? Me? Never. It always takes longer than that. So that’s fine. I can wait 7-8 mins for a dish of pasta.
The Masala smell while cooking was very “Maggi”. I love the flavours usually so it was good. The quantity of pasta was surprisingly little. It would probably feed a 10-year old. Or maybe not. Anyway, it was really really little. I would guess between TH and me, we would require 3 packets.
The first taste and owww! It was very very salty!! I know the masala that comes with Maggi Noodles is heavy in salt but this was ridiculously salty. Did anyone else have this same experience?
I am in no hurry to try the Cheese Macaroni yet. Will keep you guys posted!

This wasn't bad at all! I just picked up the Masala one and yes, it tastes just like the Maggi masala. The whole point of this is quick and dirty pasta. Clearly fresh pasta is going to be better. This is just for ease and for 5 minute pasta – it's good enough for me!
I haven't tried the Penne Masala, but the Cheese Macaroni was pretty good. Almost an Indianized Alfredo! The Masala one just put me off though. Maybe it was because the packet had a picture of pasta with peas in it. Not a good combination.
This stuff (the cheese one) was too hyped and the quantity is way too less…put my daughter (who loves pasta) off pasta. It had 4 to 5 corn kernels for what reason I have no clue!
Was just going to comment that it was a lovely pic at least.. but of course it is a glamourized version from the site. That stuff is not meant to be eaten. Hope Maggi people will read this and make it better.

It was damn awful …. any one who has tastes origanal pasta … would kill himself rather than call maggie pasta "PASTA"!! don't even to near the cheese one bad really BAD !!

I didn't like it either. The products I have tried and are good – Maggi Buna Masala ( ever so useful – but here too, one should remember it has added salt and use less salt for the curry/dal). Also try the Haldiram Bhelpuri – everything in one pack and reasonably priced

What a shame for Maggie!! Maybe adding some fresh vegetables would add nutrition to the pasta and dilute the salt content!! I'd suggest lots of spinach for the cheesy version:)
I wasnt a big fan of pazzata. yes, it is salty and has that distinct maggi taste 🙂
I never seen Maggi Pazzta here, probably we will never get it 🙁 Look like penne with maggi masala 🙂

You bought this stuff in India to take it to Singapore? 🙂 Frankly speaking, this stuff is awful. We're better off cooking our own pasta and seasoning it simply. Doesn't take all that much more time.
I just saw Pani puri flavored Cup o noodles or something like that in my Indian store! Oh the flavors that these companies come up with!
I agree with you on the high sodium levels on most of the Indian processed foods. I was under the impression its just me. Thankfully there's you too! I still gotto to eat those too – I usually add a lot of veggies so that absorbs some of the salt.
I'm not craving these – but might give it a try sometime if I find these in here. The italians of course do pasta better. So, it'll be Barilla instead of Maggi.
hmmm.. haven't seen this here yet. But the thought of the regular maggi makes me drool.
thats a nice idea of packaged food review. never tried maggi pazzta but will remember your guideline while buying this.
