Show Me Your Cook Books Event Round Up!!
I can now truly say that this is my most favourite post in my cooking blog. I had so much fun putting this together. Thanks to each and every 31 people who were nice enough to make my first ever event hosting experience so amazing!
I had asked for a one-liner on why you like your fave book. Some couldn't contain it in one line, some couldn't even zero in on a single book! So instead, I took inspiration from Meeta's idea for this round up.
Thank you so much for allowing us a peek into your world of books, for sharing those lovely bits of info, for admitting not even owning a single book and doing it in such a cute way, for pulling out all those books from the cupboard all for that one photograph, for the sweet confusions of not being able to choose a single book, the messages, the encouragement.
Hope this does justice to all my lovely contributors.
THE COOK BOOKS THAT YOU SHOWED
"As I was leaving the checkout counter, I saw the bargain desk. I like the bargain desk not just because some deals are truly a steal but because you find all kinds of books in one place !!"

"I tend to 'create' recipes by looking at what is in my pantry and merging a few recipes together to use up whatever is in the fridge."
Kanchana - Married to a Desi

"Now, I have never been to this Zen center, then how did I come to know of it? This book was a thoughtful gift from our friend M, who happened to be at the Zen center, while the author was signing copies"
"Cookbooks have always been my weakness most often I don't make a whole lot of recipes from them , but love to read the stories related to the recipes as to why the author chose or wrote about a particular recipe. "
Mallurecipes - Spice and Rice
"Just before my marriage, I was attending a Nirmal (a traditional art form) painting class, around 5 km from my home. I wanted to join the bakery course conducted in the same place. One day on my way back from the classes I lost my purse with around Rs.7!
"Faced with infinite choices, honing in on the next taste treat can be easier if lured by someone else’s whim. Food blogs and events are ideal idea farms to guide me to the next great dish."
Susan - The Well-Seasoned Cook

"This is a beautiful book with lovely photos and i have tried many recipes from this book and it has been a success. I love this book, as i enjoy baking and it assures me success"
"Collecting cookbooks have always been a great passion of mine. Bought my very first cookbook at the age of 12. Since then, I was into baking. Everything paused when I entered college.
Pushpa - Pusiva's Culinary Studio
"I love it when food is made to compensate nutrient needs of our body , and when I was in India have purchased 2 books.
"With nobody in the house to take my picture holding my favorite cookbook, I decided to go with just taking a pic of my favorite cookbook sans my beautiful face."

"These days I prefer the world wide web for recipes, something to do with real pictures and tried and tested.
"I noticed that I hadn't posted any baking recipes so far on my blog, so taking this opportunity to post this incredible recipe from my favourite cook book, Kid's Snacks from Better Homes and Gardens. I purchased this book at my local library sale."
"One of the ladies came up with the brilliant idea of collecting the recipes of each of them and compile into a 'Cook book' and recieved an instantaneous applause by the Table."
"A cookbook is chosen to suit a mood, an appetite, a craving; at the very least, it’s chosen for its easy accessibility in a deep bottom shelf filled with rows of several of its ilk, so how can I choose one, or a few, and dismiss the others?"
"It holds a special place in my heart since it was gifted to me by my brother whom I havent seen in well over three years since he moved to Florida, US."
"The greatest thing about reading these clever ideas range from tasty simple menus to those elaborate sumptious meals and ingenious ways of making them."
"I like this book because it contains different recipes from around the world. It isn't from just a single author, and hence I get to know unbiased and hand-picked recipes from different chefs in different regions. "
Mansi - Fun and Food
"There is so much I would like to write about my love for cookbooks and how I enjoy visiting places only for being able to get a glimpse of some new cook books, but I think I will tell you just this for today..."

"Honestly, the thought of even purchasing one has never even passed by the side of my brains. I was just comfortable with the various cookery shows that come up on tv..."
A Kitchen Scientist & a White Hat Hubby

"I spend endless hours pouring over my recipes books, enjoying all the descriptions, drooling over the pictures and then putting them back where they came from without cooking any of those recipes!"
"It’s almost impossible for me to choose a favorite cookbook. I truly love them all. If pressed, I would have to name these two simply because they started me on my long love-affair with cooking"
Out of the Garden
Kajal - Kajal Dreams

"She (the author) learnt how to read, write and speak Chinese, and the cookbook represents recipes that she has personally experienced there. It is an incredible ode to an incredible cuisine."

"While I couldn't bring myself to deep-fry at home, I wondered secretly, if I couldn't find a happy meeting ground. Something chocolatey, rich and sweet, that we all could enjoy..."
"I am very choosy with the cookbooks I buy new, The photos have to be glossy, the print has to be pleasing, the layout easy on the eye, the write-ups interesting and sensible, even the font has to be one I like. (I dislike Times Roman and won't buy anything in that font!)"
"We have yearly Book Fair thats held in Jan and this is the place we can get to see so many varieties of books that have hit the market. As a kid, it used to be Tintin and Asterix books that I used to buy, later this changed to cookbooks."

"Right in the Kitchen, Right by me,
"Just before i left for hostel, an uncle of mine couriered it to me so that i can cook myself and stay healthy at the hostel."

"This inclination to raw food stems from my childhood - if you have a father who whips up a salad every single day and enjoys creating dressings from some really unique ingredients - you are bound to view salads differently."

Also, if you missed the event and want to share a book you think we will all like, please do add it on in the comments section. If you have a post in which you have mentioned a cook book, add that on too.
